What to do when an unauthorized person has registered a domain name?

Updated 3 Sep, 2022

There are times when domain names have been registered by an unauthorized holder. There may be situations such as:

  • Unauthorized persons have registered domain names in the identity of legitimate companies

  • Unauthorized persons have registered domain names in legitimate companies organization numbers, but with other contact and address information

  • Unauthorized persons have registered domain names in the identity of other private individuals

  • Unauthorized persons have registered domain names in the identity of other private individuals, but with other contact and address information.

If such a case is discovered, you can send an email to the registrar of the domain name. Contact details for our registrars can be found here.

If the registrar does not respond, you can send an email to abuse@internetstiftelsen.se and inform them about the matter. The abuse function will then assess the situation for further handling of the case.
